This is still medieval intrigue/soap and pretty enjoyable, looking forward to the rest of the story anyway, assuming that's just another 2 hours same time next week.
I watched and enjoyed that too, particularly Peter Firth having fun as the butt-kissing, devious Earl. As you say, it kind of inhabits a world of blockbuster soap meets history - Dallas with more boils, mud, disease and religion. Good fun though. ps Think it was called "World Without End".
