Faber is publishing a leather clad limited edition of Julian Cope's Compendium..... So it's a filofax then. The Solstice 'limited edition' event crowd should be an interesting one. Roll on the paperback

Apparently each copy comes with Special event gig ticket. All those who purchase the limited version will be asked to give their name and details to a person at Faber who will then add your name to the the guest list for a special Julian Cope event/gig to coincide with the books release. cheers Richard

Short of a lottery win or selling another kidney, think I will too.

It's most likely the book company that is setting the price and organizing the special event, but JC would get paid accordingly. That edition will sell out, I guarantee it, but I hardly think every single fan needs to have a copy. The book is still the book, and these cds that come with the limited edition, they would most likely be sample tracks from the various AOTMs over the years. I'm guessing, but not sure, that if they are licensing those tracks for the limited edition, that they would also make an unlimited, or less limited version as well. We'll have to wait and see. Even so, I bet we could produce our own version of a best of AOTM, as I'm sure a lot of us have picked up the albums over the years.

I wondered how it fit with the anti-greedhead stance so recently reafirmed, but realised he has to support himself through his work just like the rest of us. This place isn't cheap to run, and I doubt he's making a massive wodge of cash from selling records, and then there was the busking tour... so I'll forgive him if it means we get more in the shape of albums like PR, Unruly Imagination, and Jehovahcoat (to name the three most recent standouts). I'll pick up the regular edition and if I need the music I bet it'll appear somewhere. Not sure what the gig/talk/event thing will be like though - probably full of industry types.

It'll be interesting to see who's "rattling their jewellery" at Rough Trade on 21st June. I might go along and beg them to be my patron.
