Yup, that's the one. I wouldn't disagree with you either.

I've just got a copy of the Bevis Frond after Ming's recommendation, and although I wasn't sure at first it is growing on me like a growy thing - I reckon this is going to be a long term favourite. Ace! Thanks Ming.

Phew. It really does pay off repeated listens imo. The melodies are fragile and melancholic but, omg, the songwriting is incredible - I'd struggle to pick a duff track from all 18 on the album.

Tiz a thing of vast and yearning beauty. I want to savour it before I start a-raiding their back catalogue. I love it when I find a marvellous band that I've missed out on, IYSWIM!

Glad to read your take on Absolute II before I purchased it, I strongly suspect I'd feel the same about it, despite lovong Rated O and the recent split with Mugstar.

ps Love that Gerald album. One of the first full drum n bass albums too.

Yeah, really good. I've got a later one of his, too - To All Things What They Need, which I'm gonna dig out again.

Saw your comment re Mantaray btw. That's another I'm gonna give a whirl as I've not played it in a while. I was was really impressed with that one - much better that we could reasonably expect all those years later really!

Stick to 80s Maiden dude hehe. My favorites are probably the s/t debut and Powerslave.

finding the new stuff most enjoyable, OK it's hardly rewriting the rule book but their on the 14th[15th?] studio album and still knocking out tunes you want to hear, can't be bad. feling tempted to check out the 2 Blaze Bayley discs just for the hell of it. I would say my faves are the debut and the last one .Final Frontier seemed really quaint when I first heard it but it's really burrowed its way into my brain.

Yeah yeah I know, horrid name. But what a band. These three records are just genius. Pure and simple. Marvellous.

Couldn't agree more! Thought you'd like 1 and 2 as well. I think 2 is my favorite, which is convenient as obviously it's the middle of the trilogy - love the opening track and the two 'orchestral' pieces before the guitar fades back in for the final track. Genius indeed.

With the kids:
Compilations of Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, Cockney Rebel and Foster the People's cd.

And solitary indulgences;
Shirley Collins and Ashley Hutchings, Bob Dylan, Sandy Denny, Ennio Morricone’s Spaghetti Westerns and the last PJ Harvey,

I've got that and a couple of early Gerald albums (on vinyl) from around the time he left 808 State. They're ok - kind of quaint in a way. Can't argue with Voodoo Ray as a tune though!
