"Thankfully, I think the Emily Eavis obsession with NME approved Landfill indie dominating things is a thing the past. Hope so anyway."

Looks like it is. Thought the line up was good this year.
Did you take many photos?

'Undreds! Am preparing eyeballs for some serious editing on the 'puter. I'll stick me faves on flickr when I'm done. Didn't take much of the bands and so on, cos the official types have better access, so I go more for shots of the place and my fellow punters doing their thing.

The festival in general has turned into a cosy weekend away really hasn't it. Kind of like an extended stag weekend with bands. Maybe it's the way 'indie' has gone mainstream and everyone likes a bit of Muse or a bit of Flo & Her Dull Machine and a bit of Topman NME fashion. Oh, it was better in my day I tell thee ;-)

!

Trust me dude, that's just the stuff they show on telly. I can assure you there's much, much more going on there. The best parts are in the hinterlands and weirdy bits. Far, far from a 'cosy weekend' heh heh heh.....

Yep, you're actually damn right there. I haven't been for ten years so my opinions of it now are purely derived from the TV and press coverage which as we all know is geared towards Flo Machine singing You Got The Love seventeen times to all and sundry. The weirdness will always carry on in the hinterlands as you say. I'd go again one day but just reading that 177000 and some more people attended makes me worried about losing my marbles, wife and child in spectacular fashion.

I spent 98% of the festival in the Green Field, and from that vantage point it was an almost perfect festival. With that many gorgeous and smart women and men, not sure why I'd want to mess about with the sickly looking punters collapsed in front of the Pyramid and Other stages. ;)

I doubt the BBC did much coverage of the West Holts stage (formerly the Jazz stage), but that looked like the place to be at this year.

Aha! i've not been for nearly 20yrs and was wondering what was going on at the actual festival bit. Wish i could afford to take the family if there's still good times to be had .

Being a jammy bastard and getting in free again this year.

Lineup looks...not great (Coldplay, U2 and Beyonce are headlining), but as ever there are some cool acts I'll definitely be seeing: Lee Scratch Perry, Jimmy Cliff, Pentangle, Master Musicians of Jojouka, Arthur Brown, Robyn Hitchcock, Janelle Monae etc.

Tons of names that I suspect might be disposable hipfork acts, though. Especially on the Other Stage.

Can anyone recommend me some good shit from this lineup that I might not know about? http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/line-up-poster/

Cheers in advance.

(I might not reply for awhile... Gotta get down there today and help set up a radio stage).

Up yer flue with a wiry twizzler! She RULES! 8^)

Queens of the Stone Age are on too. The rock thing has been creeping back in over recent times I'm delighted to say. Get bloody bigger, more up for it crowds than the sodding Kooks et al that's for sure!

Maybe one of the Eavis' cows is a metal-head? \m/
