Re: Lee Perry
Jun 09, 2005, 16:06
That's right, singingringtree (also a tin teardrop),
The Congoes (as reissued by Blood & Fire) is sublime.
I was at work, couldn't think straight. Knew I'd miss a few.
Now I'm home & I took inventory of my Lee Perry stuff:
26 lps + (45s, 12"s, Bob Marley stuff not counted)
24 cds.
So, a few more:
"Soundz from the Hotline" w/ the mindbending "Free Up the Prisoners" singingringtree so rightly praised- all 12:36 of it!
and the other not-to-be-missed gem from the Heartbeat catalog: "Upsetter in Dub" the most solid all dubs Upsetter release ever.
"Open the Gates" on Trojan- worth it just for the insane "City Too Hot" , which has also been reissued (just the tune) in 12" vinyl format recently- HUNT IT DOWN!!
and a few personal recommendations outside of the usual suspects list:
Jah Lion- Columbia Colly
George Faith - To Be a Lover (featuring a wicked vers. of Paul Anka's "Diana"(!!!)

better full up on the lambsbread, seen!
