What a pile of poo. I expected more from the man. I'm dumb struck.

Julian's comment: "and only having voted once in my adult life anyway." is particularly shocking. (Not least because you can't vote in your childhood). For a man with so many political opinions and a big gob, not to express them through the ballot box is surprising.

<climbs on soapbox>
Everyone should vote. Even if you only go to the polling station to spoil your paper. Spoilt papers are still counted. And it sends a message: I want to vote but there is nothing here for me that I can put my 'X' against.

Voter apathy is a major crisis in this country and it appals me. In January, we saw moving scenes on the TV on Iraqi voters risking their lives going to the polls to exercise a democratic right which we take for granted. I admired their courage and was refreshed by their determination to make a difference -even in an election which may have been flawed from the start.

As for women who don't vote... Gah! After the painful struggles of the the early 20th century that our grandmothers went through to enable us to exercise our opinions, I am ashamed of my sisters who can't be arsed to make a simple journey to the polling station and make their mark.

Yes, we have the right not to vote, but if you don't, you have no right to complain about the way the country is run.

OK, now chuck yer rotten tomatoes....

Absolutely!

I don't care if people vote Tory as long as they at least vote.

I do! If they vote Tory then get the secret police to find out who they are and kill 'em, and their families, and people who worked with em, and people who went to school with em, and their teachers. People who they've walked past in the street, definitely the people who did the vote counting, and of course anyone who was being elected in that consistuency, in fact all voters in the offending constituency, and anyone who who for the local council in the area. All the business people there too!

I did. They sent me a card when I was 15 so I thought I might as well use it.

<temporary sense of humour failure>
Don't be so flippant. People have the right to vote Tory. I can't stand the bastards so it's up to we who loathe the politics of greed and selfishness to convince them how misguided they are and ensure they get trounced in the polls on Thursday.

"and only having voted once in my adult life anyway."

I reckon it was for, ooh, 'Roman Holiday' in that C4 100 Best Movies programme.

I guess that was aimed at me Jane, erm ... inappropriate use of humor is my downfall, however stuff we say here has no consequence whatsoever really, IRL it's a different matter altogether init!

I was aimed at everyone who thinks that politics is nothing to do with them, Rat boy, (do they not pay tax, get sick, have an education? get their bins collected? use the roads, etc, etc) and that they shouldn't vote. Its too important a matter to jest about, even though the way some politicians behave is frequently a bit of a joke.

Hey Jane,

Cill, love, we gets you :) Don't be so harsh on ratcni01

Yes it is important but there is more to life than politics, it is merely part of life's rich tapestry along with cake and RARRK! :)

This will be the first election of any kind I haven't voted in. I wasn't organised enough to sort my postal vote in time. Too many other things on the agenda. I was shocked Julian hadn't bothered voting.

I reckon that all people who do not vote be killed by the secret police ;-)

Have fun *clippety clop* x
