Apache Dropout

Is actually a medley of "Apache" and "Dropout Boogie" -- how wild is that?

In the late 1970's Chrome was about 15 years ahead of their time. Sort of like Beck crossed with Ministry! (Only better than that sounds!)

Gong's "You" (1974) sounds a lot like The Orb or somesuch (another one 15-20 years ahead.)

Silberbart's "4 Times Sound Razing" sounds more like Sonic Youth than any other pre-Sonic Youth band I've ever come across. And that was about 10 years before the 1st SY record (not that the first SY EP sounds anything like Silberbart.)

Eno "Music For Airports" -- sounds like the future anyway!

(Agreed on a lot of other people's nominations too -- esp. NEU!)

Kraftwerk's "Computer World" totally encapsulates the mid-to-late 90's, though it was released in 1981!!!!!!

I think that's the most amazing ahead-of-its-time album ever. Not just "musically" advanced, but also "socially" and "culturally." They saw the future and they were right!

Antonio Russolo is his brother, and he wrote pieces for the intonarumori and orchestral instruments, which according to the written records, are pale imitations of how they were originally used. The Antonio Russolo recordings on the CD above are scratchy wax disc recordings. The Luigi Russolo piece is made with reconstructions of them from what is known about how they worked. The original instruments were destroyed by some philistines somewhere!

It's a good CD. Very strange and wonderful stuff.

It's either depending on what Reed feels like telling journalists at any given time.

I personally think it's a great pirece of music.

But, is that 'ahead' of it's time or just ripped off? Coz, to be honest most of the Orb's stuff just sounded like a bunch of smelly old hippy shit to me. Just using some different instruments.

Because Harry Connick Jr sounds like Sinatra, does that make Sinatra a futuristic visionary?

Don't hesitate. 'A Sprinkling Of Clouds' is one of the most intense tracks ever to hit vinyl, and 'Isle Of Everywhere' and 'Master Builder' are not far behind. Thrills aplenty guaranteed!
