Probably worth pointing out that the terms of the referendum was specifically and explicitly that it was "advisory" and non-binding on the sovereignty of parliament. Unlike a general election.

Parliament still has to decide whether to follow the outcome or not. If a binding referendum had been the intention it would probably have had a requirement for a "super-majority", typically 2/3rds of the vote.
