Don't get me wrong I do agree, I think Scotland will get independence, but hoping for it any time soon is pretty pointless. To have another vote would require Westminster approval, and that's not going to happen. Cameron owes the SNP nothing, and as such it will receive nothing. All of Sturgeon's bleating on about it isn't going to change a thing. Give it another 30 years and it will be allowed then, a once in a generation vote is just that, once in a generation, not a couple of years later because Sturgeon can't accept she lost the vote. The SNP need to move on past that right now and build a Scotland that people can see does not need Westminster, the case right now is putting the proverbial proof in the pudding. She's not done that, and until the SNP do then the people of Scotland will never vote for independence.

Sturgeon "bleating" / "cannot accept she lost the vote" ?!!! You've been consuming too much biased UK press and TV mate! You do know there's a devolved Scottish Parliament already, right? And the next election / manifestos are this time next year? And that circumstances can change (and relatively quickly, cf the promised & inevitably divisive EU in-or-out referendum)? Sturgeon just needs to carry the Scottish people (NOT Westminster) and she and the SNP are enjoying unparalleled and unprecedented popularity here right now. Scotland free by 2020 (could be...).

(Anyway, off to pub now. I'm not ignoring your reply!)

Yes, fully aware. I live in Wales with an increasing voice for independence. I'm only going by her words, still bleating on about another vote, which she has mentioned.

Nicola Sturgeon clearly said - many times thanks to the hysteria being whipped up by the Tories and their Main Stream Media pals - that this General Election vote was NOT a mandate for a further independence referendum! Honestly, where the fuck are you getting your information?! Cite specific examples now, or can I just assume unthinking acceptance of MSM lies?

The people of Scotland should have the government they choose. No argument there. Problem is that I heard the pre-election propaganda and I watched all the debates yet I can't find any evidence that the SNP have ever actually done anything that could be described as socially progressive let alone Socialist.

I am old enough to remember Heath and Wilson in government and to me, over time, the SNP have come across as resolutely pragmatic and centrist so as to be ready to jump down whichever path leads to independence the fastest. Bashing the Labour Party over the head with its own core values certainly fits into that pattern.

There is however no evidence that the SNP would ever actively defy a Cameron government as so many Labour councils such as Sheffield, Liverpool and parts of London did in the 80s and with far less ammunition to work with. Will the SNP be hanging banners on the Holyrood parliament building proclaiming the number of deaths caused by austerity or the unemployment figures as Ken Livingstone used to do? I doubt it because those 80s rebels sewed the seeds of their own demise and that would be incompatible with a gradualism strategy.

What I do see is a questionable record on privatisation and offering up the kind of middle class bribes beloved of Blair. And what of the likes of Brian Souter? He is a funny looking Socialist. Where does all that fit in to this progressive leftist shtick?

Anyway I am now expecting to see the rejection of austerity that was expressed in the manifesto and the speeches made flesh for all to see but frankly I am not holding my breath as not having to deliver was presumably always part of the plan.

Given the core long standing philosophical incompatibility between Nationalism and Socialism this is all to be expected. That's why the song is called The Internationale. The clue is in the name. Stalin was a fan but he is not exactly the poster boy progressives are mostly looking for.

I saw the photo of the new SNP MPs. Apparently Socialism looks a lot like a Mills & Boon & Cross-Stitching Appreciation Society get-together.

Look, cloth ears.

SNP VOTE FOR 2015 GE: 1454436
YES VOTE FOR 2014 REF 1617989

NO VOTE FOR 2015 REF 2001926

LESS PEOPLE TURNED OUT TO Vote SNP THAN TURNED OUT OT VOTE YES.

FPTP creates a false picture, as the even mildly educated know.

I am not surprised you are so confused though;)

It is because of the rancour/divisive message and 'special lack of grace' from your lot that caused a Tory govt again.
None of you were concerned about the UK uniting to get rid of this lot so the UK didn't.

Your message was negative, self defeating poop.

And yer new dear leader don't even want FFA or anything like independence.

Again, cloth ears, are you not listening?

You are being duped all over again.

(Up) yours, a 'Scot' (because racial purity is your thing) who voted no.
