I agree but I don't think we'll ever see a great sea change in policing in the politically shifting moderate nature of election in the UK (labour - tory - labour - tory - ad infinitum).
I would hope to see in future that there is an increase in accountability, both in tactics and bringing bad policing to justice. I have met police officers who truly support radical change in the force even though they are still enforcing current policies. This may seem hypocritical and immoral but I'd say there's a great deal of us who do things we don't always agree on in our working lives but we seek to challenge and improve. The only alternative I think is self sufficiently living outside the system but how many of us do that without being beholdent or responsible to someone who is within it?
