Wonder if any of our transatlantic cousins caught any of it. Would be interested in knowing what they thought.

The expressions on the faces of some of the onlookers were priceless.

I don't think too many senators will be holidaying in Glasgow in the near future!!

Surely not! TBH, if I lived in Bethnal Green and Bow I'd be wondering what he was doing there the day parliament opened. ('Spose there's not really that much to be doing on the first day, mind) Expecially when the BBC had the headline:
'Respect' key to Blair third term

Yeah, absolutely - but lets face it, the whole thing was a farce long before GG turned up to tell them so.
And I think we've all been told what to think of GG's performance before he even got there.

I suppose I should be "balanced" (not that anyone in the meeja is) and admit that Galloway has always had a very bad attendance record.

....in fact we were well primed - count the number of times the expression "showboating" was used in the media running up to yesterday.

If I lived in /Bethnal Green I'd expect him to be where he was. He wasn't elected as a good local constituency MP, he was elected larely on an anti-war platform.

So, if he can go and get global media attention to some big somple truths against the war said to the face of the governments that started it, I'd feel like he was doing what his constituents voted for.

And whether he took the money or not, and self-publicising schmuck that he is, there was some great articualtion of the anti war perspective right where it was needed.

our *ahem* senators much like their roman counterparts consider themselves at the right hand (or left...) of god, if not godz themselfs... i did not see mr galloways performance, but have read about it and having seen a few senate hearings in the past, it was certainly not what they were expecting... so as u say merrick good on him for at least putting it back in their faces...

or as mr. monboit sez "Tell people something they know already, and they will thank you for it. Tell them something new, and they will hate you for it."

unfortunately it'z awl a soundbyte society and quickly forgotten as we move on to the next newsweek fiasco, another bombing, another child gone missing... gotta sell a paper, gotta grab a viewer...

news is becoming an information overload of novicane...

numbness... dumbness...

on a candle light (er) note...

aqk... cheers for the raveonettes reccommedation on ur blog... been meaning to do that for a while... good stuff...
