Hi Thelma :)

Absolutely! :) And long may it be the case! :)

your wit is missed and though I know wells are normally always of 'disputed antiquity' it is good to see them.

Aw, shucks, you. :D But yes. I should never have removed some of the wells, I guess. It's up to the community to decide their relevance. I'm always convinced of their antiquity but then again, with no evidence to back it up, I'm happy to concede. :)

The one on the moor a few miles from here is definitely modern pagan and probably has good provenance as it is next to a roman road.......

That's the sort of thing that gets me all excited. You tease. ;) :D

Someone somewhere should bit your hand off (not literally, obvs). It does work fine on a phone, but for those of us with failing eyesight it's really a bit small to read without having to keep enlarging.

Bingo. Exactly. Yeah, it'd be a faff, but I reckon I could work with what we already have and make it mobile friendly!

Come and posts some wells.

Oh, alright. :) I might have to get off my arse and go visit some as it's been a while! I saw/revisited a few last year when I was in Cornwall. It felt good to get back into it. Some of my pics are SO old... Really terrible quality by today's standards. And I guess my notes will be out of date by now as well! If only I could get funding to take a year out... Because I'm obviously the only person on the planet who wants that to happen to them. :D

Well completely off the cuff, Happy Imbolic everyone. But could someone tell me whether it is today. tomorrow or the 4th February. The four seasonal festivities of the year, are presumably on the 1st day of their months. But then if they have been messing around with the calendars over time it doesn't really matter.......
The Coligny calender 'celtic' though roman lettering and found in a roman temple does not have the dates?, so presumably the Irish annals must be the right source.

Would be good though.

Ooh. I have a hack day to go to in a couple of months and had no idea what to do... I'll see if I can raise any interest in making that happen! :)

Same to you Moss .
I can understand why the 4th is chosen .
The basis is midway between solstice and equinox 90 days .45 days after solstice =4th .

Think it also ties in with Candlemass? Tomorrow is the last day for taking down festive decorations anyhow (pay no attention to all that modern 12th Night rubbish).

Happy Halfway-between-Solstice-and-Equinox to you all.

GOOD. Keep being you, dude. Never mind any strange 'what's he looking at that wall for' looks. Bugger the neighbours, as my Dad used to say. (Metaphysically, of course..)
