this is just a little thought in cornwall (and no doubt other places) the beach in newquay is covered with quartz stones when I first took my now husband in to a room and turned off the light and began to bang the stones together he thought i'd really lost it until he saw the glow in the stones.My point is if ancient man did the same sort of thing he would no doubt think they were pretty special stones.
I have seen bits of quartz in shops since called 'magic stones' or 'glowing stones' some one is making a lot of money from the stones on the beaches!
I don't know much about the physics but the whole fact that some how the energy from friction is converted and stored for a short moment to give this glow is quite cool.you do get alittle spark but you get that with most stones but not the glow.
as i said only a little thought
