It would be lovely, if in a gesture of philosophical ecumenicanism, an arch skeptic would propose an experimental design that could test the hypothesis that humans can detect buried stones.

T'aint gonna happen though ;)

Fringe beliefs seem to always require a ratchet effect in the level of 'willing suspension of disbelief' of the holder, so that any contrary evidence is somehow incorporated into the initial eroneous proposition.
