Gyrus is a name I took on about ten years ago. I made it up after coming across the word "gyre" - it fit a lot of the associations I was aiming for, but it didn't roll off the tongue that well, so I changed the ending. It was a few months later that I bothered to try to look the word up in the dictionary, where I was delighted to find it referred to one of the little squiggles on the surface of the brain. So I guess you can say I made it up AND it's a real word :-)
