HA has always called for transparency, public accountability, honesty and an engineering solution. We have called for them to justify their reasons, consider all options and publish their thinking. Doors have been closed.

The doors were opened a chink on Saturday. Which is nice. This doesn't take away any of the unexplained U turns and lack of openness the public has suffered for the past 5 and half years. There are still a lot of unknown factors. This might be a start, but don't put the flags out yet. The chosen solution may or may not be the least worst, but it could still involve a lot of collateral damage during the repair process.

For me, having the independent eminent engineer there was exceptionally reassuring. But I just can't quite bring myself to trust EH yet. Hopefully they will listen to what Prof Chandler recommends.
