Firstly Avebury is a VILLAGE not a town. AND if you'd been there on Mon 21st June when the National Trust closed off the car park, and the Police stopped ANYONE from entering the village, whether residents or not, then you could start to see just how easy it is to close Avebury off to the public and charge admission. So please, shut up and leave Avebury alone; your well meant intentions will yet again be a "do gooders" cock up.
