I love those AR Kane records with Ray Shulman. 'Butterfly Collector' still floors me.

Indeed. When people say things like that, they seem to be neglecting a whole bunch of black music too.

Argus didn't do it for me. Pilgrimage is of greater interest. The track 'The Pilgrim' sounds kind of like Hard Rock Steve Reich! John Olson of Wolf Eyes swears by that album.

Thumbs up from me also for Going For The One. 'Awaken' bloody *soars*.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer: Love Beach

Absolutely hideous record. I'm glad I got rid of it. And made a small profit on it too! I bet it has some sort of a hardcore cult following...

Do we count the Peter Tosh single with Mick on backing vocs? I like that!

Pilgrimage is a great album (apart from the tedious and lengthy boogie track at the end). And talking of prog reggae, surely the end section of Valediction from this album is the first sighting of this particular beast??

First WA album is also worth a listen if you're into the early 70s prog blues thing

Totally. ( ) is one of the few albums I've ever taken back to the shop and begged them to exchange it was so killingly tedious. Can't think of a better example of an emperor's new clothes record.

Though must admit that an earlier EP of theirs with some orchestral stuff on is pretty good...
