It's all in your mind. http://www.sydarthurfestival.com My mind, too! Forever. Went down to the riverside this afternoon but didn't see any ducks. So I listened to the mono and stereo versions. *Quack quack quack quack* "Apples And Oranges" was the last Barrett-era Pink Floyd song I got around to hear, right after "Candy And A Currant Bun." A friend had recently acquired an elusive copy of "The Best of The Pink Floyd," which I borrowed to tape and do a hand-drawn rendering of the cover portrait on the afternoon of June 24, 1979CE. (Note: Only got around to Nick Mason, as well as a psychedelic logo that was far too Roger Dean for 1969.) Syd Barrett, man. He made my world a pretty special place.

We're cerebrating here in Armenia, commemorating the living spirit of Shelley by seeking out a bull-headed menhir we recently heard about near a remote village on the shores of Lake Sevan (very much in the spirit of Ozymandias). Along the way we’ll be doing a rural shrine-crawl as today is also the popular pagan holiday of Vardavar, once dedicated to a Goddess and Christianized (in name only) as The Feast of the Transfiguration. Truly, transfiguration is the operative word when thinking of Shelley and the visionary spirit of SydArthur. Indeed, Shelley’s close friend Keats perfectly summed up the visionary’s calling on this very deity, July 8th, 1819 - 199 years ago - in the closing sentence of a love letter to his girlfriend, Fanny Brawne: "What was your dream? Tell it me and I will tell you the interpretation thereof." Wishing all of you the festival of your dreams!

Sounds like a really special day, Zariadris. I'm in the USA listening to "Swan Song" by Be-Bop Deluxe. I've played lots of Be-Bop Deluxe during August for decades, so bumping my yearly ritual to July is hardly a problem.

I'm ashamed to say I'm not familiar with Be-Bop Deluxe, but will try to rectify that, what with August coming up. Thanks for turning me on. We listened to Vesuvio as we drove through mountain villages along the base of Mt. Azhdahak, a dormant volcano that is the tallest mountain in the chain that rings the lake, and which takes her name from a demon/dragon of Iranian myth, popularized in Ferdowsi's Shahname. It was a deeply powerful, moving thing to experience this landscape with this album. So, Day 2 of SydArthur was duly observed. And let me take this opportunity to finally thank you for your wonderful, inspiring review of Vesuvio. Write on man. By the way, today (July 9) is the birthday of Bon Scott! So, let's raise a glass or three to the Dionysian, priapic, he-donistic, ribald and telluric spirit of rock and roll. Before Stoner Rock, there was Boner Rock: earth, sweat and blood. Here's to you BS, pedal to the metal on the highway to hell. Ride on man.

Zariadris, Earlier today, I had to check out images of Azhdahak Lake just to see where you were for reference. I was blown away by its beauty and surreal qualities. It feels so still in the photos. You were listening to Vesuvio there?! By that huge crater lake?!! Now THAT must have been an experience. Thanks, ta, and schnoragollatzoo for your kind comments on my review, so glad you liked it. Tracks from the Russ Giguere album have been swamping my mind for the better part of today, especially "My Plan." Bon Scott, man: you nailed it with that tribute. Hey, I just thought: Bong should do an AC/DC covers album called "Boner Rock" and re-name themselves 'Stone' just for the occasion. They'd be spoiled for choice with all the Mesolithic possibilities for the album sleeve. Plus, BIG sticker on the front: "Includes: 'She's Got Balls.'"

I am also cerebrating on the road. Currently camping along the Oregon/Washington coast with my wife and daughter. First time visiting America in a few years, but been a very lovely trip so far. Data overages prevent me from playing the music clips, but I'll have to listen once I'm back home in a couple weeks. I do see they have added John Coltrane to the lineup this year, I may have ranted about his absence last year. Not sure if that swayed them, but either way, good choice.

Vocalist Celeste Carboni absolutely shines on this track.
