Any of our London muzos go to Cafe Oto, in Dalston? I was there a couple of months ago and very impressed, by both the fact that they attract international acts - and the amount of people such a night draws in.

I agree but until we can come up with a more fitting term to cover the spectrum of what we're putting on it will have to do.

Cafe Oto is fantastic, I've been to loads of great gigs there. There is also a nice place in Waterloo called I'Klectik which is putting on lots of improv. http://iklectikartlab.com/

Not made any music for a while, but I am DJing tonight at Stretford Sip Club - an animal themed set.

I've only been a couple of times, saw Monkey Puzzle Trio with Snorkel supprting and Seb Rochford & Pamelia Kurstin (extraordinary theremin player) again with Snorkel supporting. It is a fine venue.

For the last year or so i've been working on a dozen tracks with a few different collaborators. My engineering skills are perhaps not what they should be after years in studios which generally slows the whole process down, much to my frustration. However, over the last 4 or 5 months things have moved along with some pace, as i've started to cut myself some slack from work. All work and no play etc. The biggest single obstacle I face with recording is that I almost always never know when to quit on a track. The consumate tinkerman. That's one of the many obstacles of being studiobound. Never had such issues when working with the band. I also have no fecking idea whether this material is any good. I worry about whether to take the easy or hard on-the-ear route. Trying to get away from being so reliant upon melody. It's vocals next and with one or two guests excepted, it'll be mostly me. Gulp. On a more positive note, discovered that I had a great guitarist right under my nose - my 19-year old - which has been a massive motivator.

I've still not had the honour of seeing Snorkel just the once, yet.

I haven't seen them myself for over 3 years and I know their drummer Frank has been playing in other ensembles, Prescott for one. They are playing again next month in Deptford though.

That's brilliant. I wonder if he will go electric.
