I didn’t know this at the time but Gerald Thomas(?) Moore was previously in a band called Heron who feature as archetypal back-to the-country let’s take our music into the fields and be at one with nature whilst wearing cheesecloth hippies on the inner cover photo of Rob Youngs’s Electric Eden book of a couple of years ago. That was the thing with most of these bands, and what made them so good – although it was all new to me, a bit like punk where a new band popped up every week – the musicians had history. You’d see Bryn Haworth who’d played on Sharon Tandy’s Hold On, Kokomo was Joe Cocker’s Grease Band merged with Liverpool soulsters, Arrival. Martin Stone from The Action - who’d backed Alice Springs of Slack Alice (pretty dreadful) in a previous incarnation. Did anyone mention Ace - they were a nice little scuffly soul band.
