Yes me too. Far more excited than I am about any of the new material Cope is likely to churn out any time soon -2012 or no- even though no doubt they'll be the one or two exceptional tracks and I'll still be ever hopeful that he'll change direction again and I'll buy the things with little question. All a bit sad but since 'You've Got a Problem With Me' I've really not been impressed.

Bring back Donald Skinner Julian FFS. Play some Rock n Roll again.

Doesn't have to be rock n roll, as long as it is head music! That's the problem I've had with the recent stuff, it hasn't pressed my *trip out* buttons. But that is just me.

Agreed! Trip outs small or large: the reasons we fell in love with him and his muse are lacking except in the odd glorious moment: 'Psychedelic Revolution' (the song) has it I think. Bits of 'Xmas in the Women's Shelter' too.

The Transcendental Cope! Where have you gone?

What you're both [and me, if you are] really saying if you read between the lines is he needs a big brew of mushies to get that psychedelic "trip out" feeling back into his music, for all we know the tracks that have "it" are maybe older songs themselves, i'd like to add that the stunning "raving on the moor" had it in spades though as well, i can "feel" a change of image coming soon though, i keep thinking what a suited and booted cope would give us, him and people like merrick have such strong and right ideas about things like the environment and the way life is going, that it sometimes seems a shame that their ideas don't reach a bigger audience [else why do they have it?], i don't mean selling out, and i certainly don't mean becoming a monster to beat a monster, but the guy has "something" and that "something" has flown under the radar [ in the underworld ] for far to long in my opinion.

Yes. But I feel Cope's recent output (Black Sheep on) all rather falls between stools (?!!) On the one hand the 'Head Music' Heads amongst us are feeling bereft while on the other an audience who MIGHT just respond to this 'Preaching Revolution' thrust of the music are unlikely hear it... so meantime we fans are just being ranted at...

I don't reckon he's skimped on the mushies, but somehow his recent releases haven't clicked my psychedelic brain into gear. Not sure why, something indefinable...not there for me. It is probably just me, not him! haha!

I get you, if your going to do music with a bit of a message, you need an audience, but the one he has already knows a lot of these things anyway, so thus "being ranted at", it's make your mind up time for him then, settle for singing to the heads [and give them what they want ] or sing to the masses and maybe piss off some heads, as i agree anything else falls between two stools, if i've got that right it's a good point you make sir.

It might be awhile since his last trip though! if so it could be the reason the recent releases haven't clicked with you, it's easily rectified though as i can smell them in the air.

I think a lot of folk want his trippier adventures put out there, for us to enjoy. He's just doesn't seem to be into getting a band of proper collaborators together, anymore.

I really like both Black Sheep & Psychedelic Revolution - the former especially. Love the acoustic guitar sound, the synths and mellotrons - the Blake references in the lyrics (Black Sheep). Take your points about head music but I get plenty of that elsewhere... just enjoy the songs on these... Raving on the moor is a belter!

Yes - if you read the credits on Psychedelic Revolution most of the tracks could just be JC solo (guitars, synths, mellotrons, drum) - there seems to be just the odd added synth, vocals and drums in some places.

I'm not expecting any of this to be played on the upcoming dates. (Mind you, wouldn't it be a head blower if JC walked on and said "I'm going to play Woden in it's entirety"? I think it'd be more likely that he'd sprinkle the set with MNU tracks).

TBH any such solo innovation would be welcome Vybik ;)
