My first much-loved guitar was a single pick up cherry Hofner SG bass with an action that would be the envy of a modest suspension bridge. Horrible to tune. Horrible to play and I still have the calluses to prove it but it looked great. Wish I still had it. That goes for every bass I have ever owned I think. As in so many things trading up isn't always what you think it is going to be. I think the worst deal I ever did was a Precision and a Hofner violin bass for a new Aria SB700 in 1980 ish. An Aria! What was I thinking?
