The Sea Cat wrote: The 'BMW' of Guitars, and just as irritating. Most people who play them have exactly the same lack of musical road manners. Ok. Not fair, but 'm in a grumpy snobbish mood. Let's hear it for Telecasters and Rickenbackers stuck in the middle lane.. ( I don't drive yet so that analogy propbaly falls completely on its arse)

The Sea Cat wrote: Apart from Pete, obviously...... (ahem) I think I remember reading he went on to other guitars only because production of the SG with P90s was discontinued and he'd smashed most of the rest. His current set-up Stratocasters + Vibrokings is horrible, just doesn't suit his style - to my ears at least

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Marino I like this description: He is noted for complicated set-ups; he has "an entire pedalboard ... assigned to hold the expression pedals that control the parameters of the effects on another pedalboard. and a fine and almost forgotten exponent of the SG.

I believe this guy also usually played an SG (though he doesn't strap it on til a couple minutes into this clip.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFIMWRXWY90 Meanwhile Belew is playing a Fender in the Hendrix style -- this is a pretty good comparison of how the two major brands sound.
