I agree for the most part, though it seems on the live front there is obviously a demand for this sort of thing. It rankles with me but I guess it's kind of like seeing a tribute act with extra kudos and I suppose some people want to hear certain songs played live.
It's when they make an album it really befuddles me. Queen and Genesis to name two big acts (and imminently Yes) have recorded new material and released it under the 'brand' name minus a key member plus a replacement and the albums pretty much sank without trace (as will the Yes one I'm sure). So it's clear that part of the audience might be happy to suspend their belief to a degree in the live arena, but not when it comes to an actual, new 'offical' album. Don't people learn from these things?
