Curtis Mayfield - There's No Place Like America Today If you have any affinity for 70s soul with a social / political twist then beg borrow or buy this record, it is totally and utterly brilliant. Clavinet, deep bass, multiple wah wah guitars and lots of dubby space underpin the sweetest falsetto going. I wonder if CM had been listening to "Catch A Fire"? Get this and "Back To The World". These records make "Superly" sound positively anaemic. Holly & The Italians - The Right To Be Italian A female version of the first Johansen solo album. Superior, sassy, cartoon bad-ass, New Wave bubblegum. Wendy James - Now Ain't The Time For Your Tears Has any other album combined such brilliant lyrics with such inept singing? Someone like Chrissie Hynde should rerecord these songs. Or Grace Jones. Heart - Dreamboat Annie / Little Queen / Dog & Butterly Not even the wettest production this side of "Band On The Run" can totally obscure how good Heart were in their pre Big Hair incarnation. Pretty much any soundboard recording from 78 or earlier is worth checking out but in the absence of that the best of these three albums will certainly do. Led Zep with a bit less of the Viking hooligan and a bit more of the Linda Rondstat. The guitar intro and drum entry on "Mistral Wind" tells you everything you need to know. Flying Lizards w/ Jah Lloyd - The secret dub life of ... Yes - Roosevelt Stadium Again Yes - 1977-10-24-6-7-8-9 Best of Wembley Yes - The King Biscuit Flower Hour - Boston 11 12 74 Morton Feldman - Rothko Chapel Joëlle Léandre et al - Joelle Leandre Project Steely Dan - Royal Scam Far East Family Band - Parallel World TDream - Ricochet African Dub Chapter 1 Marion Brown et al - Afternoon of a Georgia Faun plus Lots of Current93 (thanks Machinery Elf) Even more Rolling Stones circa 63-65 (thanks Keith)

I'd say that if you liked what Jaz Coleman did with Tribazik on Molten (VID), you should like the new album - it's not quite as "nu-metal" as that track but it is certainly metallic. Well worth picking up imho.

Well worth picking up imho. Looking forward to it - in 30 years they've only released one duff album imho (Outside The Gate), so I'm sure it'll be worth getting.
