I don't know how to feel that Adam and the Ants , Kings of the Wild Frontier is in your guilty pleasures section. I know we are at a copey site and Repossesed explicitly trash talks these fashion folk, but I can't say I agree. The ridiculous self-refrentiality is kept from being merely camp by the thick tribal, sans-cymbal drumming and turned rather into a true toughness. Besides, I can't front on lyrics like: "we're the press darlings. we depress, the press, darling." or "and if passion, is a fashion, then __(fill in any name here)___ is the best dressed man in town!" As far as I am concerned, this record taps into the ancient cool as much as any amon duul release. Tough words? Perhaps I just don't believe in guilty pleasure records.
