I can understand where that perspective comes from, but I don't agree. You can be technically adept without losing the soul of your music - but certainly, some folks just become virtuosos for the sake of it and certainly lose the magic in the process.

Actually I stole it from my guitarist...he used it in a Zig Zag interview back in the 80's. Strangely, he was describing his own playing.... Must've had a bad day or something.
