Been to Graceland twice, and I get the feeling it just gets lamer every year.
They closed down the "costume museum" a few years back, cuz Lisa Marie sold them off for charity! Believe me, if you can't see the king's treasures (belt buckles, outrageous furniture, etc.) it's just not that much fun. In general you can tell from photos that they redecorated the home itself to make it infinitely more tasteful than it was when he died in the 70's. You used to be able to see the junk they moved out -- now all they have left are a bunch of cars and motorcycles (which look just like anybody else's cars and motorcycles.)
The time to go would have been the late 70's before the "Presley Family Trust" clomped down on all of your tackier vendors in the area (good luck finding "the king on black velvet" these days.)
Wandering around NYC once, I found myself outside the door of Electric Lady studios. Blink and you could miss it.
