I went to Haight-Ashbury last year.
Quite a few local folk caught in a time-warp and who are well into their 60th years wandering around (especially when night falls).
Lots of original shops from the era (so I was told) which now have a more 'new-age' feel.
Golden Gate Park (site of the first 'Be-In' in jan. 1967) is a fantastic place
- lush and green and lots of great gardens.

Funny you should mention Spahn Ranch- planning to go near there next weekend.
I'd say it would have a connection to the music scene - the obvious one being Manson's connection to the Beach Boys and Bobby Beausoleil's connection to Arthur Lee's Love.
Above all, the main reason for my visit, would be to see the scenery over Santa Susana and a visit to friends in the town of Chatsworth, rather than any devilish activity! ;-)
