To me it's as relevant as pitting Black Sabbath against Willie Nelson!
Zep were influenced by funk as much as folk, whereas The Sabs were yer seminal heavy metal band (along with Blue Cheer etc).

I should also add, that for better or worse - ( I think better) Zep's influence extends beyond the music and falls into the realms of creating a template for other rock bands. What I mean by that is that, for me at least, they created an archetype for bands to aspire to, although I don't think they've been bettered in this way.
You have the preening, leonine singer. The quasi Mystical guitar hero and genius. The taciturn but hugely important bassist/keyboardist. Then the powerhouse rock-beast engine room of a drummer. That being said I think all the members often moved in areas outside of these archetypes but when the Zep archetype template was fully locked in, they were the best of a kind.

I am far(very far) from being a Zep expert but YES! They we're that good,They were able to blend Blues and Rock into a sludgy mixture that has yet to be replicated in my opinion.By the way I just suffered a VERY major Heart Attack (at the age of 38 no less) and any well wishes from fellow heads would do me some good.
