I do like the record, lyrically it's ground-breaking, but musically it's not anywhere near as groundbreaking as PIL were.

Ah, you spotted my NON deliberate mistake. Was originally going to put Neil Young's "After The Gold Rush" at number 8 (hence the "not his best" comment) but changed my mind and decided "Tommy" (which I think IS mostly a bad album, btw) deserved to be in there more. Forgot to delete the comment though.

I agrre LL..though I don't think it's so much rockabilly as Chuck Berry and assorted early rock-n-roll riffs that the Dolls had used as well It's the lyrics and Johnny's delivery wot made it 'punk'

Thing is, I've never been a Beatles fan either, but there are a lot of bands that I like that wouldn't exist as they do without the Beatles. So, er, there. x
