Aye, I think it's Alan Bishop who does the Sublime Freqs stuff- I've only got the two Cambodian discs, but they're really awesome (especially the Cambodian Cassette Archives one...). I'd second singingringingtree's recommendations - especially for 330,003 Crossdressers, which has just the right mix of out there cod-ethno rock and extended transcendental oriental drones. Makes me want to go and smoke opium by the yellow rivers of Ho-Nan. I've also got God is My Solar System/Superpower double lp, but I've not played that enough to have an opinion about it, and Live from the Land of the Rising Sun, which is probably one to avoid - sounds like their take on Zorn-ish cartoon jazz...

Agree about Buckley. Also from the Straight Records stable : Judy Henske & Jerry Yester - Farewell Aldebran (have a cassette of this, taped from vinyl. Criminally deleted for decades now). Wild Man Fischer - An Evening With Wild Man Fischer (apparently, the Zappa estate still owns the rights to this and is refusing to re-issue it). Various - Ambient IV - Isolationism Various - Monsters, Robots & Bugmen Various - Cosmic Kurishi Monsters Various - Macro Dub Infection Vols. 1 & 2 Bark Psychosis - Hex Spectrum - Soul Kiss (Glide Divine) Experimental Audio Research - Beyond The Pale (Methinks these post-rock classics, all of which are less than 15 years old, are gonna become increasingly collectable in the next 15 if nothing is done to get them back on the market).

I can't recall, but that sounds more than likely. If only I could take it back... ;o) BTW, mojojojo - I just remembered, Prindle's site has writeups of almost everything SCG have done... his reviews may be 99% drunkenly scrawled ego-wank, but it should give you a handle on their ouvre (the readers comments are probably more helpful in this case...): http://www.markprindle.com/suncity.htm

I've got the Cosmic Kurishi Monsters and Macro Dub Infection comps, wish I'd got the Monsters Bug Men etc at the time because it's a fascinating snapshot of the time, though I think i've probably got a fair representation of the stuff on it on original albums elsewhere. Great time for the whole post-rock thing, the mid-90s. Forget Britpop and Grunge, this was where it was really happening.

I always liked the name Bum Gravy - I've never heard them, but I imagine something quite extreme.
