and another one

I was in the offie bit of Morrisons earliers, and the background music played Going Underground and Paranoid. Is it me getting older that makes me quite like Radio 2 and really dig a lot of supermarket music, or is it that we're leaving behind the lift music of yesteryear?

Whatever, they then played I Just Can't Stop Loving You by Michael Jackson. The central premise of this song is, appropriately enough, made clear in the title. Jackson is completely incapable of stopping loving you. It is not merely unliikely or undesirable, it makes clear that it is an absolute impossibility.

So, how come the chorus goes

I just can't stop loving you
I just can't stop loving you
And if I stop then tell me just what will I do

Sorry Michael, but the 'if I stop' is not on the cards, so you're fretting for nothing. Tosser.

Unless of couse, there is a chance you could stop. In which case the song should be called I Can Just Stop Loving You, Although I Feel It Is Somewhat Unlikely.
