Overall I like Gorgeous George but his team appeared to be running a seriously unsavory campaign to unseat Oona King in Bow back in 2005. How much of what happened was spontaneous and how much directed by the Respect team was a matter for debate and it's not as if the Labour party always have clean hands (and there were plenty of accusations of dodgy dealing flying both ways) but there was an aspect to the campaign against her that was reminiscent of the one against Peter Tatchell in Bermondsey in the early 80s. To say it got personal doesn't even begin to cover it.

As for Scotland, despite the fact that my heart would love to see a "yes" vote, his explanation as to what a vote for independence would do to the economies of both countries offers a pretty compelling argument for us to be praying for a "no".
