I've no idea about that escalator incident, but they've definitely had drug sniffer dogs at Leeds and Bradford Interchange stations in recent months.

They put up a poster how it 'keeps the railway safe' so they want people to co-operate. Except that if someone's done nothing on their journey to cause anyone to even notice them and they only get nicked thanks to a sniffer dog at the end of a journey, it's not really keeping the railway safe is it? The place is safe enough already.

But making people scared of crime is no bad thing, keeps the police in a job. And given the enormous scale of illicit drug use, go anywhere where there's a lot of people and you'll get some nice easy arrests to bump up your stats.

Shame they pick railway stations though. Why not police locker rooms?
