Exactly...Buddhist writings are liberally sprinkled with admonitions AGAINST killing. When one reaches the mindset that all life is important and interconnected, and beings of all types may contain Bodhisattvas, you rapidly develop a much more respectful view of existance and the existance of others. It's almost a polar opposite from the Abrahamic viewpoints of vengeance and war and the like.

This isn't to say there's NO references to it, however; when Tibet was invaded by China in 1949, killing to defend the country was justified by Buddhist scholars under the idea of preventing members of the invading armies from being part of committing even greater karmic injustices as the war continued and the inevitable conquest and subjugation of Tibet took place. But as is pretty apparent, this is a far cry from the generalized Abrahamic "kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out" mentality, and it's also something of an unusual case.
