Easy for you to say, mate. As far as I know, Afghan citizens weren't even allowed to leave the country under the Taliban, and the price of rebellion under a regime like theirs doesn't even bear thinking about.
Moreover, I've been posting on this forum since before 9/11, and let me tell you, NO-ONE here
condoned the attacks. In fact, the general concernsus was pretty much summed up by the first post on the Twin Towers thread ; "I am not a globalist, but this is truly a disgusting act". However, this does not justify the fact that Bush
used 9/11 as an excuse to start the most futile and hypocritical war since Vietnam, a war from which no-one apart from American oil companies- least of all Iraqi citizens - stands to benefit in the long haul.
You think trying to force their version of "democracy" on a region with as big a history of political instability as Iraq is going to work? My belief is that they'll probably end up with a hardline
Islamic theocracy even more repressive than Saddam's regime.
