This is the problem with the left relying on leaders. weither charismatic or flamboyant, they are usually dodgy geezers like Galloway, Scargill & Derrick Hatton. I know the media can demonise people, but if they come across as dodgy then it is easier to fling mud at them to make it stick.

Galloway probs didn't take the money but unfortunately he was always too willing to suck Saddam's cock.

If the left are to get any where then they are going to have to do it through true democracy and organisation from below and not rely on charismatic leaders like Galloway or Sheridan (who the SSP seem to be putting all their hopes on).
