So what do we think of this? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml;$sessionid$HAV15J5BKWTN3QFIQMFSFGGAVCBQ0IV0?xml=/news/2003/04/22/ngall22.xml&sSheet=/portal/2003/04/22/ixportaltop.html http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/2965427.stm On the one hand it seems a bit convenient. On the other if it's not true the Torygraph is setting itself up for a libel suit that'll make history. Or is the explanation that someone decided it was time for GG to be removed from the picture and planted the documents there for the reporter to find... Or is it true?

Interesting audio of interview with Galloway and editor of the Torygraph can be heard here http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/audio/39123000/rm/_39123667_gall08_moore_galloway.ram

it does just seem too absurd to be true. and way too convenient, o look! the signature of GG's 'handler' is illegible, how handy. and surely someone would have noticed if georgy boy was getting an extra third of a million each year! Daft bollocks, is what it is.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/2967029.stm $600m !? Well, that should go a long way to rebuilding the country if it's real, shouldn't it!?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/2965427.stm This stuff is just like the Cold War cack they used to say about anyone opposing Western militarism being in the pay of the Soviets. Galloway has a long history of peace activism, he's even been arrested on blocades of Faslane, Britain's main base of illegal weapons of mass destruction. For him it's been about a lot more than Iraq, Hope he takes the Torygraph to the fuckin cleaners over this.

i don't know - he's a pretty dodgy geezer if you ask me why hasn't he left the labour party if he has integrity - why do other left groups steer clear of associations with him? why is no one standing up for him? - cause they aren't sure is why.

>>why is no one standing up for him? Erm, there's been nothing but statements of support on the news (up here at least - ie Scotland). The best thing anyone said was "If he's earning that much, how come he's such a tight bastard". Back on subject. I think he's dodgy. However, this looks even dodgier. Even if he is in the employ of Saddam, Kim Jong-il and the Penguin this so-called proof stinks. As Mark Thomas said of Colin Powell's proof of WMD: "Not in 1970's England with an Irish defendant..."

It's not the first time allegations like this have been levelled against him - anyone remember the stuff about the Pakistani government supposedly funding his "East" magazine to the tune of about £1m in the mid-to-late 90s?

The Telegraph have just announced that they don't have to prove that it's true. They can use a "substantive public interest" defence which apparently let's them off even if it's shown to have no foundation. WTF?!?!?!?!? Anyone remember South Park and the Chewbacca defence?
