Strangely enough I,m not sure. Before the badger baiting bill came into operation years ago used to go out on the lookout for these people who cornered badgers and then let their dogs on them for sport. They're not nice to know, threaten your family or kill your dog is a couple of the things they threatened. So no, I don't see badgers as cute, they live in family setts for generations, the outliers are the young males forced out. If they are on national trust land it is because the farmers are pushing them out, cull if you must but I don't believe every barrow is in immediate danger of falling down because of animal burrowing. Half(probably most) of these barrows have been raided in the past by so called victorian antiquaries looking for treasure. The same happens today only they've got metal detectors. The largest tunnels in Silbury were caused by men intent on finding gold or a buried king, perhaps a gigantic aggressive rabbit in the centre might have put them off!
