Stone shifting 5
Sep 14, 2003, 12:11
In memory of my late father.

If you can dream-and not make dreams your master;
If you can think-and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build'um up with wornout tools;

Stonehengineers Web Site
Sep 14, 2003, 12:37
The website is now operational at a very basic level with just a single holding page.

http://meglithproject.co.uk
and
http://stonehengineers.co.uk

If it doesn't work for you, just wait a while. It can take some time for domain names to propagate around all the nameservers.

Very nice. You're right, a real pro.
I suppose you could dedicate the whole project to your father, as I guess he'd be pretty amazed to know what you're up to.

Dedication

Gordon, I was so busy getting the web site up and running, I missed you dedication to your father. Kipling's verse fits the bill perfectly.

I concur with Nigel, your father would be proud of you.

Strong Argument
Sep 14, 2003, 20:40
I'm watching Prior's "Britain BC" at the moment, on the History Channel.

There was a nice quote on there, which gives a strong argument for the rowing technique, talking about the neolithic farmers:

"They were an intelligent people, working on the principle of least effort".

Sounds just like Gordon's method to me!

Yes, I've just watched it on the +1 hour showing (I've seen The Fugitive twice already) and thought that remark to be significant.

Yea, I thought a deadline might help to galvanize some activity. I thought it reasonable to expect an operational web site by the end of the month. It will continue to grow after that date I'm sure.
