"these plonker politicians are just mouth pieces" Hmmm, of course they could be similarly self-absorbed careerists like wot the captains of industry often are, which takes aliens out of the equation (although it doesn't sound anywhere near as exotic or Hollywoodesque.) It just intrigues (and if I'm honest, tires ) me to think that the counter-movement to innate greed needs to invent scare-mongering tactics such as alien-control to explain simple problems inherent within contest-mobility and free market capitalism. Reminds me of , er, someone, trying to say that reptiles are controlling the world. All manner of religions and cults have blamed human avarice on an external entity - Satan, snakes, aliens etc etc. My opinion is a refusal to face facts that people actually want a lot of cash, and have no compunction elbowing competitors out of the market. Sorry.

Like the supermarkets for one kick. Remember the first supermarkets? They said, "Ho, the supermarket! Got oranges, bananas, an' mannas an' sannas an' coos... You go in." Say, "Oh, yes!" "Whatta ya' do?" "You get a cart." "You do?" "Well, where's the fruit?" "It's over there." "It is?" "Have you seen the ravi... " "No, I don't know anything about that." And there you are pushin' in the supermarket with the cart. You grab the cart and you go strolling up and down the aisles and you load up all your jazz and you're working for them, see? But it's alright. It's alright, because you're getting - this is the beginning - very, very, low, low, low, low prices. Saving, you see. So you don't mind, you know, pushing a little bit. And then, a few swings of the ( ? ). Same supermarket, same cart. Prices - whhhhooooo! And you're still pushin' the mother cart. Still workin' for 'em. And you'll even take carts and push them into other carts, to show that you're... Right? It's amazing. Lord Buckley Supermarkets

Reading about the poor girl who had her mishap on Koh Samui in Thailand I noticed that there is now a Tesco store on that beautiful far away island. FFS!

Over here in NZ, Greenpeace are targeting a campaign against Sealord, who are owned by a company that hunts whales; Nissui. You can help here: http://greenpeace.org.nz/action/email-sealord.asp "When you email Sealord they will send you the following message: "We assure you that Sealord is not in any way involved in whaling or the sale of whale meat. We are a New Zealand company with our own values, policies and operations; we are 50% owned by Maori (the indigenous people of New Zealand) through Aotearoa Fisheries Limited which has made it clear it does not condone the hunting of whales for commercial purposes. The New Zealand and Australian Governments are strongly opposed to whaling. We have made our other shareholder, Nissui, fully aware of the Governments' position on whaling and the strength of feeling in New Zealand and Australia about the Japanese Government's whaling programme. Nissui is also aware of Aotearoa Fisheries' position. If you want further information on Nissui or the Japanese Government's scientific whaling programme we suggest you contact Nissui or the Japanese Government". We urge you to reply to Sealord's email and make the following points: While Sealord doesn't directly process or sell whale meat, the fact that it is 50% owned by a company that does, gives them the ability and the responsibility to influence Nissui. Sealord has a responsibility to its customers and employees, to New Zealand, the environment and whales, and to Sealord's other shareholder, to do the right thing and do more to persuade Nissui out of commercial whaling. Just as NZ is proudly nuclear free so it is proudly anti whaling. Sealord's association with whaling through its shareholder's interests shames New Zealand and New Zealanders. This association is not good for business and especially not good for the whales. People will inevitably stop buying Sealord products until Nissui stops whaling. The customer is always right, and Sealord customers do not approve of Sealord's connection to whaling interests. The New Zealand public would like to know what Nissui's response has been to Sealord making Nissui fully aware of New Zealand's strong opposition to commercial whaling, and want Sealord to state clearly its own opposition to commercial whaling." Do it; you know it makes sense..... Peace Pilgrim X
