Grow your own veg, buy local produce, use local suppliers and stores, trade within your community... it's probably more expensive than going to the supermarket in the short term but it don't half make you feel good in the long term.

Yeah it is bloody hard work, but you don't have to do it all yourself. If you communicate with your neighbours and all pitch in growing different crops it reduces the workload and promotes community. I have to say though the hard work is not onerous once you get into it and you get quite fit into the bargain. Winners all round!
