Indeed it does, but a very large proportion of Tesco's income now comes other sectors such as insurance and credit cards. They have deals with major insurance providers to take less commission than 'normal' brokers and (as far as I am aware) do not give commission to their sales staff, but keep it for themselves.

They do the nicest doughnuts, roasted red pepper hummus, pesto, tortillas mmmmmm
i know people who are anti-tesco yet they will gladly eat all of my cooking courtesy of tesco.....and lick the plate!
If you have a child you will find it very difficult not to use tesco aswell
