I tried to read "Anthem" once . . . after about 3 pages I just couldn't take any more.
The worst part is her followers -- they all seem to be 20 yr old college students who love to challenge their professors on every stupid point . . . had one in a philosophy class once, eek!
Which is to say, I've never run into an ADULT who took her seriously . . .

I had to take mywife away from the uber-Capitalists in order to get her better. That evil enemy of Capitalism 'Welfare' saved her life. In the US, no job = no health insurance. Unfortunately, she had no health so lost her job Catch 44 I think.
I have bad arthritic problems, i can make my life a load better by smoking pot. Denied. No profit. Not licensed. Will be one day. Progress = ownership.
it's all relative. Why promote the 'primitive vs technocrat' extremes. We can benefit from both, in fact i think it's crucial that we do.

In fact there are many thousands of Taliban still alive, even some working in Karzai's interim govt!
One reason I am a big fan of Karzai is the fact he let the Taliban POW's go free right after the war ended -- something he was heavily criticized for within Afghanistan (where the Taliban were not too popular.)
At this point we're getting into an area which is a lot more complex and "all grey" than economic theory . . . I don't think you could name one nation-state that "acts morally" if you try to apply individual morals to states . . .
