Bobbie Gentry - The Capital Years. Has a voice that resonates up and down my spine.

King Crimson - USA. One of the rare occasions that an expanded version make an album twice as good (this one - errm... 40th anniversary has Fracture and Starless).

Montrose - s/t, Paper Money.

Retribution Gospel Choir - 3. Prompted by Spencer I rescued this from exile. Channels Crazy Horse at their best. Loose and heavy.

Taman Shud - Viper Smoke. Wall rattlingly good. Bass players starting to hang round in packs, I blame Jack White and the Black Keys.

Van Der Graaf Generator - After The Flood (At The BBC 68 - 77). My days as a prolific consumer are long behind me (I'm broke) but bought this immediately. Having not bought The Box or the Maida Vale sets this is great. As important and satisfying as the magnificent Led Zeppelin at the BBC set (which is now my favourite Led Zep release). Anyway, the 2nd cd of this set is amazing. Recommended.

Jane Weaver - The Fallen by Watchbird, The Silver Globe. Echo all the sentiments expressed last week about these. The Silver Globe crept up on me, didn't immediately fall for its charms. I can be remarkably cloth eared on occasions.
