Main listening this week for:
John Cooper Clarke Snap, Crackle and Bop. His second studio album, produced by Hannett and including the terrific "Beasley Street". There's some crackers on here, although a degree of patchiness over LP length. Vini Reilly guests on guitar on a couple of tracks.
The Soft Moon - S/T. Thanks to jpl-m for this one. Can take or leave the vocals, but I really like the music. It occupies a nice Joy Divison/Banshees post-punk space, with occasional Bunnymen-ish and taut gothic bits, even kind of Skeletal Family in a good way at times. Like.
Otherwise:
A Certain Ratio - Early
Crispy Ambulance - Live On A Hot August Night 12"
A Certain Ratio - Greetings Four 12"
The The - Infected
Pet Shop Boys - Introspective
New Order - Technique
Glide - Curvature of the Earth
The Twilight Sad - Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters
Mark Stewart - The Politics of Envy
The Wedding Present - Valentina
