I dallied with Phil Lynott, but I'm still not sure how good a bassist he was.

But what a front man. I'm not sure I've ever seen better.

Singing like he did at the same time: that's CLASS. Jim Dewar from Trower's band was in the same league too.

Apologies. I'm not saying Phil was a bad bass player at all, just not in the greatest category. Certainly class. I think his true genius was in song writing and I'm sure I read somewhere that bass wasn't his first choice of instrument.
