Ha ha, sounds like myself. I'm always splurging on things I can't really afford.

You won't regret those purchases though, I've returned to them all time after time for yonks. When I first got Burning off Impurities, it never left my CD player/ walkman for months (much like Circle's Alotus, another fab slice of quiet post rock/psyche).

Holy sons, sonically has a similar vibe to those more laid back Beck moments. Not everything he's released has been essential by any means...the first few albums can be a bit hit and miss for me, but Decline of The West and Criminals Return never fail to hit the spot.
I read it was his way of dealing with a particularly dark depression, he'd get up and write songs incessantly. There's allegedly 300 odd track 4 recordings he made over that period, prolific by anyone's standards. They turn up on his web page from time to time as free downloads, so keep em' peeled.
